At Blue Mound Graphics, family isn’t just who we serve — it’s who we are. So this Father’s Day, we wanted to celebrate the dads who made our team into the people they are today. We asked members of our Calendar Crew to share a few words about their dads. Here are their stories.

My father was an immigrant arriving in Milwaukee in the early 1950s from Germany. He became a lithographer in the printing industry and worked a lot of hours to build the life he wanted. I learned the value of a dollar from him and the value of working hard to achieve your goals. He was not only a great father to me, but he was also a father-figure to his apprentices in the print shop and mentored a few fatherless young men he came across during his lifetime. His life was filled with service to others whether he was volunteering at German Fest or helping a neighbor out with a project. He loved a German bratwurst on the grill and a cold beer. Happy Father’s Day in heaven, Dad!

My father has taught me countless things through the years about how to navigate life. A few choice lessons that come to mind include how to be a hard worker while still enjoying life, how not to be a knucklehead, how to be an advocate for yourself, and how to hold onto the good things around you. And on top of that, he showed me how to appreciate the lyrical storytelling of Bob Dylan, among many other musicians. Always the mentor, and always an impromptu quiz proctor of random trivia, I will never stop learning from my dad.
Cheers to you, Guy! And Happy Father’s Day.

Being the oldest of seven children means I have a unique perspective on my dad — namely, that he is either a saint or completely out of his mind, and honestly, probably both. I watched this man referee arguments, survive seven rounds of driving lessons without a single nervous breakdown (that we know of), and somehow never once mix up our names on the first try. (Okay, maybe the second or third try.) He built a home that was never quiet, never boring, and never had enough hot water, and he did it all with a smile — or at least something that looked like one. He was my first hero, my first example of patience, and living proof that a human being can survive on very little sleep and an unreasonable amount of love. Seven kids later, he's still standing, still showing up, and still the person we all call first when life gets hard.
Happy Father's Day, Dad. We're a lot, and you're everything.

As the oldest of four kids, I tried everything: soccer, baton twirling, dance, gymnastics, rugby, scuba diving, and so much more. And through it all, my dad was there, fully encouraging me. He’d put on a cowboy hat to be my dance partner, then he traded in his dancing shoes for “rugby dad” gear, skipping Sunday football to watch my match. Whatever new activity I wanted to try, he was excited to be a part of it. As an attorney by trade, he’s a stickler for writing and education. He’d pore over my assignments to make sure I was doing my best, and that attention to detail taught me just how much education mattered. He cared so much about all of his kids’ education that he ran for the local school board. When it came time for me to go to college and then grad school, he never missed a chance to tell me how proud he was.
Love you, Padre. Thanks for all the lessons. Happy Father’s Day!
